McNabb Released; Bears An Option?
(CBS) Donovan McNabb was released by the Minnesota Vikings Thursday, and much like Kyle Orton a week ago, the 13-year veteran could be an option for the Bears.
McNabb hasn't played since being replaced by rookie Christian Ponder in the fourth quarter Oct. 16 at Solider Field.
With Jay Cutler possibly shelved for the season with a broken and dislocated thumb, the Bears could use depth behind Caleb Hanie. Last week they tried unsuccessfully to claim Orton off waivers before signing Luke McCown.
Orton was claimed by the Chiefs, who the Bears play Sunday. McNabb will go through the same waiver process.
