McKnight: Crain Vows He's Getting Closer To Returning
By Connor McKnight-
GLENDALE, Ariz. (CBS) With just 18 days left in spring training, White Sox reliever Jesse Crain promises he's close to returning to action.
"(Opening day is) getting closer but I know what I need to get ready," Crain said. "My arm is in shape. Bullpen wise, my arm feels great, my pitches feel great. It's just being able to extend and be game ready. Hopefully that'll be in the next couple days."
Crain has dealt with an adductor strain in his right leg and this marks the second spring where he's battled health issues.
"I can tell when I'm ready to throw in a game," Crain said. "As of yesterday I wasn't. I think (I'm) still taking a step forward. Hopefully tomorrow, it's another step forward and I'll be ready to go."
Crain says there's just one hurdle left before he can get back on a Cactus League mound.
"Pushing through the pitches to get extension—my leg extension," Crain said. "It's not arm (related) or anything. (It's) my leg when I get all the way out there."
