McDonald's All-American Games Returning to United Center
CHICAGO (CBS) Chicago will become the first city to host back-to-back McDonald's High School All-American Games when they return to the United Center in 2012, McDonald's announced Thursday.
20,018 fans attended the games last March at the United Center, which generated $625,000 in proceeds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. That was enough for McDonalds to sign a deal with the United Center for the games to return to Chicago in 2012, which an option for 2013.
"The combination of outstanding fan support and world-class venues in Chicago made the 2011 McDonald's All American Games the best ever," Douglas Freeland, director of the McDonald's All American Games, said in a statement. "The standing-room-only crowd of 20,018 fans at the United Center made for a truly electric atmosphere, and we are very excited to bring the McDonald's All American Games back to Chicago in 2012 all while supporting a great charity."
The 35th Annual McDonald's All American Games will take place March 28, 2012 and will include a presentation of the 35 greatest McDonald's All-Americans ever.
"We are delighted and honored to have been chosen once again by McDonald's to play host to the most prestigious high school basketball event of the year," Steve Schanwald, Senior Vice President of Marketing at the United Center, said in a statement.
