McCaskey: 'Exciting To Have Offensive Weapons'

(WSCR) Since their inception, the Chicago Bears have been known for their defensive prowess.

They've earned the name Monsters of the Midway, but with Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, the 2012 Bears have something to brag about on offense, as well.

"For 93 years, the Chicago Bears have been all about defense," Bears chairman Michael McCaskey told The Mully and Hanley Show. "But it's exciting to have an offense with weapons and the ability to score to get us substantial leads and get us back in games and keep us in games."

For the first time since the acquisition of Cutler, the Bears have given the quarterback the weapons he needs to succeed.

"Jay is the most talented quarterback we've had here in the last 60 years since Sid Luckman," McCaskey said. "When you have a guy of surpassing ability, you gotta give him the tools he needs to succeed. We think we've done that."

The 29-year-old Cutler has two season left on his current contract, but McCaskey isn't worried about contract negotiations with the franchise quarterback.

"All of that stuff is going to take care of itself," McCaskey said. "I'm very excited that (Matt Forte) got a long-term deal. The two sides persevered. There were some rough points, but both sides stuck with it and got a fair deal for both sides. At the appropriate time, I'm sure that will happen with Jay."
