McCarthy To Have Back Surgery
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police Supt. Garry McCarthy was undergoing back surgery on Thursday, and was expected to be off the job for at least a few days.
Police spokesman Adam Collins said McCarthy was having outpatient back surgery on Friday.
McCarthy was expected to return to duty at some point next week, and should be out no more than a week, according to Collins.
In McCarthy's absence, First Deputy Supt. Al Wysinger would be in charge of the department.
