Mayor's Wife Released From Hospital
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago first lady Maggie Daley is home after her latest hospitalization, the mayor's press office said Monday.
Mrs. Daley spent the past week at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, her second recent stint after experiencing flu-like symptoms. A breast cancer survivor, Maggie Daley last month underwent surgery to replace a metal rod in her leg as part of her treatment.
"I know there are legions of others who are going through the same thing," said Mrs. Daley, who reported feeling "much better," said in a written statement. "I am very grateful for all the prayers and good wishes I've received."
Her husband, Richard Daley, leaves office next week after serving 22 years in office. She will continue to receive cancer therapy on an outpatient basis at Northwestern.
