Massage Parlor Busted For Prostitution
MARKHAM, Ill. (STMW) - Clients were getting more than massages at a Lansing massage parlor, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office, which arrested four women including the owner of Nabi Spa for prostitution related charges following a two-month-long undercover sting.
The parlor's owner, Eun Kyung Clark, 42, or the 8700 block of Branton in Highland, Ind., was ordered held on $20,000 bond Friday in the Markham courthouse, charged with keeping a place of prostitution and a violation of the massage licensing act, according to a sheriff's release.
The Cook County Sheriff's Police Vice Unit initiated an investigation into Clark's business, Nabi Spa, in the 17900 block of South Torrence Avenue, after tips that patrons were receiving more than massages, according to the release.
Over the course of a two-month investigation, undercover officers learned that employees of the spa were regularly offering customers prostitution services, according to the release.
Clients traveled from Indiana and from around Illinois to patronize the "spa" and on Thursday, vice officers conducted a sting at the business, arresting Clark and three employees: Kyoung Sil, 43, of the 200 block of East Okeffee in Palo Alto, Calif.; Mi Jeong Kim, 44, of the 600 block of South Berendo Street in Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mi Jin Lee, 40, of the 500 block of South Parkview in Los Angeles, Calif., according to the release.
The three staffers were charged with prostitution and conducting a massage without a license -- both misdemeanors, according to the release.
They were released after posting $100 bond. All four women were offered services through the Cook County Sheriff's Women's Justice Programs.
Eun Kyung Clark's next court date is Oct. 7th in Markham. While the others will appear there on Oct. 27.
Kyoung Sil, Mi Jeong Kim, and Mi Jin Lee will appear in Markham court on October 27th.
