Marshall: Excited For Opportunity To Work Under 'Innovative' Trestman
(CBS) - Brandon Marshall has seen his fair share of change during his seven-year NFL career.
Playing under new Bears head coach Marc Trestman and new offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer in 2013 will mean Marshall has played under six different head coaches and six different offensive coordinators in his eight-year career.
Still, Marshall is open to the challenge of learning from Trestman.
"I've heard a lot of great things," Marshall told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "The thing that sticks out the most is the word 'innovative.' I'm looking forward to working with him. It does suck a little bit because it's because of coach Lovie (Smith) being fired, but the NFL is about change. This is not a unique situation. Coach Smith, everyone loved him, the opportunity I had this past year to work with him, I learned a lot. I was looking forward to working with him but, I gotta say, moving forward, I am excited about coach Trestman and what he brings to our team and this city. Hopefully, we get this thing started right this year."

But what if Trestman's new system means fewer catches for No. 15?
"They're going to have to trade me," Marshall joked. "Naw, I'm just playing. Coach Trestman, some of his terminology I'm used to. I've been in a few different offenses. I pride myself in being a student of the game. Picking up different things is not a problem for me. Change is not a problem for me. Also, less targets won't be a problem for me when it equals wins. ... I'm looking forward to seeing Alshon (Jeffery), Devin (Hester) and Earl (Bennett) and whoever else we add to this thing be more a part of it, because I think that will bring us more success."
After the season, Marshall underwent a hip surgery to repair some damage, but the wide receiver expects to be running again, soon.
"The process is very slow right now," Marshall said. "The first couple of weeks you have to stay on crutches. After that, everything comes back pretty quick. I expect a speedy recovery and (I'll) be back running in the next couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to that."
