Chicago Shooting: Man shot just outside Marriott Hotel on Magnificent Mile
CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago police said a man was shot outside of the River North Marriott hotel on Michigan Avenue Monday afternoon.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The 37-year-old man was near the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown offender who had a handgun and shot him. The victim was struck in the abdomen and thigh area.
There were frantic moments on the corner of Ohio and Rush just before rush hour.
A neon green hat was a focus of the large crime scene outside of the hotel. Several River North streets were shut down for hours.
"He was in obvious pain," said witness Chad Fensin. "He was rolled over on his side trying to avoid laying on the impacted area."
The victim was shot on the sidewalk and apparently went inside the hotel for help. That's where paramedics eventually found him.
No arrests were made.
Area detectives are investigating.
