Mark Grace Reportedly 'A Model Inmate'
(CBS) Mark Grace may be down, but he's certainly not out.
The former Cubs first baseman, currently serving a four-month jail stint in Arizona for several DUIs, has reportedly been on his best behavior while behind bars.
"It is my understanding Mark is a 'model' inmate and does a lot of volunteering with cleanup and other activities," MCSO spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said Monday. "He is looked up to by other inmates at Tent City."
According to the terms of his sentence, Grace reports to Maricopa County's Tent City jail from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m every day.
After his latest DUI arrest, Grace was fired as the Diamondbacks TV broadcaster, but he's since been hired back by the club as a minor league hitting instructor. He works with prospects during the day before reporting to jail.
Upon his release in June, Grace will become the Diamondbacks Arizona Summer League team's hitting instructor.
