Marino: Cutler In 'Upper Echelon Of Quarterbacks' In NFL
(WSCR) Regardless of how the Bears fare over their next 10 games, when the 2013 season comes to an end, one question will remain.
Should the team re-sign Jay Cutler, or let one of the few franchise quarterbacks they've ever had walk?
Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino thinks the Bears need to stick with Cutler, who he said was in the top tier of quarterbacks in the NFL.
"The one thing you need in the NFL would be a big time quarterback because you have to be able to sling it," Marino told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I mean just flat out throw it and (Cutler) can throw it with pretty much anybody in the league, as good or better than anybody in the league."

Cutler is having arguably one of his best seasons in the NFL, as the Bears have gotten off to a 4-2 start. He's led multiple game-winning, fourth-quarter drives to go along with his 12 touchdowns, six interceptions and a career-high 95.2 passer rating.
"I would say he is in the upper echelon of quarterbacks in the league," Marino said. "When you look at if they should keep him or not, I mean there are a bunch of teams that would love to have Jay Cutler be their quarterback. Believe me, quarterbacks that can play at a very high level or consistent or better is a rarity in the league. They're just not around, so if you got a guy you think you can win with and get you into the playoffs and give you a shot for a Super Bowl you know you've got to stick with him. "
