Mariners Designate Milton Bradley For Assignment
CHICAGO (CBS) The Seattle Mariners have designated former Chicago Cub Milton Bradley for assignment, all but ending the controversial outfielders time with the Mariners.
Now that Bradley has been designated for assignment, the Mariners have three options moving forward. They can release Bradley, they can trade him within 10 days or they can send him to the minors, however he would have to approve a move to the minor leagues.
Bradley signed a big free agent contract with the Cubs before the 2009 season. While he never lived up to his contract, he lived up to his reputation of being a head-case. After a tumultuous season in Chicago, the Cubs shipped Bradley off to Seattle in exchange for Carlos Silva, another under-performing player with a big contract.
In his 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, Bradley has played for eight teams, and never spent more than three years in one city.
