Marine From Crystal Lake Killed In Afghanistan
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (STMW) - A Marine from northwest suburban Crystal Lake was among the six killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan this week.
The Department of Defense on Saturday announced the deaths of six Marines, including Capt. Nathan R. McHone, 29, of Crystal Lake, who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
These Marines died Thursday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. They were assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
