In Illinois, Users Pay A Premium For Good Pot

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The price of quality marijuana in Illinois ranks among the highest in the United States.
According to this graphic from Forbes, an ounce costs $350.
In fact, much of the Midwest demands a premium for pot. However, across the border in Indiana, it's cheaper ($330). Like cigarettes, anything one smokes in the Hoosier state is a relative bargain. Keep driving to Michigan, however, for an even better deal ($285).
According to Price Of Weed, which "crowdsourced" marijuana prices across the country, it costs the average Illinois user $350.29/ounce for high quality dope; $287.86 for mid-grade and $203.61 for the cheap stuff.
The cheapest marijuana can be found in states where it is legal to smoke recreationally, like Colorado, Oregon and Washinton.
North Dakota is the most expensive in the nation, at $385 an ounce.
Recently, Illinois began allow use of marijuana for treatment of specific medical ailments.
Last month, Gov. Bruce Rauner rejected adding eight more conditions to the list.
