Many Indiana Roads Extremely Dangerous To Travel
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Motorists attempting to drive through Northwest Indiana are being told to get off the road--and stay off.
On Wednesday evening, a travel warning was issued for most areas in Northwest Indiana
State troopers report more than 250 crashes or spin-outs across the northern and central portions of the state, including those spotted by CBS 2's Jim Williams.
CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports that many drivers appear to be heeding the warnings, as areas around places like Merrillville were hit hard by heavy, wet snow.
One snowplow driver said conditions were the worst he had seen all winter.
Earlier, travel warnings had been issued for Benton, White and Jasper counties, meaning drivers should stay off the roads.
