Man's Body Pulled From Chicago River's North Branch
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man's body was pulled from the North Branch of the Chicago River Thursday morning.
A resident of the Avondale neighborhood was walking his dog near Roscoe Street and California Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday, when he saw what appeared to be a body in the water, police said.
The man picked up his cell phone and called 911, and police and fire crews came to the scene.
Police Marine Unit officers and Fire Department rescuers pulled the body from the water, which was believed to be that of a man in his early 40s.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office did not immediately have additional details.
