Mannelly Lost For Season With Torn ACL
(CBS) Bears long-snapper Patrick Mannelly ruptured an ACL on a second-quarter extra point and will be lost for the rest of the season.
Like quarterback Jay Cutler, who suffered a broken thumb Sunday, Mannelly is a captain, meaning the Bears lost two leaders in their 31-20 over the Chargers.
Fullback Tyler Clutts took over long-snapping duties for Mannelly, snapping a punt for the first time since high school. It's unclear whether or not the Bears will keep Clutts in that position or sign another long-snapper.
