(STMW) -- A man was wounded in a shooting early Saturday in west suburban Aurora Township.
The 18-year-old was with three other males in a vehicle headed south on Illinois Route 31 in unincorporated Aurora Township at 2:55 a.m. when another vehicle started following them, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff's office. When the victim's vehicle turned onto U.S. Highway 30, someone in the other vehicle started shooting.
The man, who was in the back seat at the time, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the sheriff's office said. None of the vehicle's other occupants were injured.
The victim's vehicle drove off to a home in Montgomery, the sheriff's office said. The man was then taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora before being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. His injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
