Memphis Man Who Fell To His Death At Hotel Identified
(CBS) -- The 44-year-old Memphis, Tenn. man who died in a fall while taking photographs atop the LondonHouse hotel was an advisor to newspapers on digital marketing.
Eric Paul Janssen was killed when he fell from the luxury hotel at 85 E. Wacker. He fell from a 20th-floor parapet wall onto a sixth-floor roof, authorities say.
The Cook County Medical Examiner says Janssen died from multiple injuries, and the death was ruled an accident. Sources tell CBS 2 Janssen was not authorized to be on the property.
A longtime friend, Angela Copeland, says Janssen had three children and worked as an advisor to newspapers on digital marketing and loved photography. She has set up a GoFundMe page for his children.
"He loved the photography aspect and the exploring aspect. But he was trained as a journalist, and so I think there was part of him that really hit on that," she says.
Last year, one of Janssen's postings on his Facebook page asked for support for a fellow photographer who had been injured in a fall in Memphis last year.
