Man 'Very Critical' After Being Shot In Little Village
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is in "very critical" condition after being shot in the head early Sunday as he rode in a car in the Southwest Side Little Village neighborhood.
The 22-year-old man was riding in the back of a Pontiac Grand Prix when he was shot in the head about 3:30 a.m., police said. The northbound Grand Prix was stopped at a stop sign at 30th Street and Pulaski Road when the shooting occurred.
Witnesses told police they heard a "loud pop" then saw the rear window shatter. At that point the driver and front-seat passenger turned around and realized their friend had been shot, though they did not see where the gunfire came from.
They drove to a nearby gas station in the 3900 block of West Ogden Avenue where they called police and paramedics, police said.
The wounded man was taken in "very critical" condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to police.
No one is in custody Sunday morning as Area Central detectives continue to investigate.
