Man Turns Himself In For West Side Hit-And-Run
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man turned himself into police custody for a hit-and-run accident that left a 52-year-old woman critically wounded, according to a statement released by police News Affairs on Saturday.
William Davis, 27, was arrested and charged on Saturday with a Class 4 felony of leaving the scene of an accident and a Class 2 felony of failing to report an accident with a serious injury, the statement said.
Davis, of the 4600 block of West Adams, was also cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to take due care for pedestrians on the roadway, the statement said.
Davis is accused of hitting striking a woman with a vehicle he was driving Wednesday night on the West Side.
Just after 9 p.m. the woman was crossing Lake Street at Pulaski from east to west, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. At the same time, the car was making a right turn onto Pulaski from Lake.
The vehicle struck the woman and kept going south on Pulaski, Mirabelli said.
The woman, who suffered injuries to her head and both legs, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, he said.
A court date for Davis was not immediately available Saturday.
