Man Tries To Lure Girl Into Car In Logan Square

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are looking for a man who tried to lure a young girl into his car Wednesday in the Logan Square neighborhood.

As WBBM Newsradio's Steve Grzanich reports, around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, the 9-year-old girl was walking down the 2000 block of North Point Street – in an isolated section of the neighborhood bounded by California, Armitage and Milwaukee avenues where the streets run askew from the grid.

Police say the man pulled up next to the girl and asked if she wanted a ride. She refused, and the man drove away.

The suspect is described as an African-American male between the ages of 23 and 25 with black hair "up to the middle of his ears," bluish-green eyes, and a black mole or birthmark on his chin.

He had a gray gauge earring in his left ear and a gold band with a diamond on his left hand, and was wearing a black stocking cap and blue T-shirt with a white skeleton on it.

The man's car is described as a dirty mid-size silver four-door vehicle, similar to a Toyota, with a shiny hood ornament of a person standing up, according to a police alert.

Anyone with information is asked to call Grand Central Area detectives at (312) 746-8346.
