Man Tries To Lure Boy With Candy In Glenview
GLENVIEW, Ill. (STMW) - Police are searching for a man who attempted to lure a 9-year-old boy with candy last week in north suburban Glenview.
The vehicle followed the child for a short distance after he ran off near the intersection of Primrose Lane and Thistle Road, according to police. The incident happened between 3:10 and 3:50 p.m. this past Friday afternoon, but wasn't reported to police until about three hours later.
Police Commander Jeff Ader credited "Stranger Danger" training for the boy's presence of mind to run away. "We sure get a lot more reports that we ever did," Ader said.
The vehicle was described as a dark blue, four-door older model with damage on the front passenger bumper.
The youth described the driver as a 40- to 50-year-old white man with black hair and a full beard with some gray, wearing a black and blue plaid shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Pat Sheehan at (847) 901-6131.
