Man Struck, Killed By Semi In Elk Grove Village
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was hit and killed by a semi truck just south of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village Friday night.
A Mack tractor semi trailer was traveling southbound on Elmhurst Road approaching Landmeir Road about 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle hit a pedestrian in the roadway, a release from Elk Grove Village police said.
Jose Resugio Meza-Horatio, 52, of the 100 block of Dover Drive in Des Plaines was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:44 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The 54-year-old Round Lake man driving the semi was not injured, according to the release, which did not say whether any citations were issued for the crash.
Elk Grove Village police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
