Man Struck, Killed By CTA Red Line Train
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The CTA Red Line was shut down Sunday night after a man was struck and killed by a train near the State and Grand station, authorities said.
The 25-year-old man died after he was struck by a train on the southbound tracks, about 100 feet north of the end of the platform about 6:30 p.m.
Sheffy Abraham, whose home address was not released, was pronounced dead at the station, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Southbound trains were diverted to elevated stations for almost three hours Sunday, but normal service was restored by 9:20 p.m.
