Man Killed After Being Struck By Metra Train

GLENVIEW, Ill. (STMW) -- A man died after being struck by a Metra train Wednesday evening in north suburban Glenview.
Milwaukee District / North Line Train No. 2148, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:11 p.m., struck the pedestrian about 5:45 p.m. near Chestnut Avenue in Glenview, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The incident happened between the North Glenview and Glenview stations.
The man died of his injuries, Gillis said. His age and identity were not yet known.
The involved train, which originated in Deerfield, remained stopped as of 6:20 p.m. All inbound traffic was also stopped, he said. Outbound trains were able to make it through the area but are traveling at "walking speed," Gillis said.
As of 7 p.m., trains Nos. 2139, 2141 and 2143 were running 20 to 30 minutes behind schedule.
