Man Struck And Killed On Dan Ryan
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was struck and killed early Saturday after he walked into traffic in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway.
He was struck by a vehicle about 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 94 near 91st Street and was dead at the scene, Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper Ivan Bukaczyk said.
The man -- who was carrying no identification -- walked straight ahead and did not run or attempt to avoid traffic, Master Sgt. Tim Tyler said, citing preliminary information. The driver of the vehicle stopped.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office described the victim as an unknown male in his 30s.
He said a chaplain was sent to talk to the driver, who was "pretty shook up."
Southbound lanes were closed as investigators reconstructed the accident, Tyler said. Lanes were re-opened about 7 a.m.
No citations are expected.
