Man Struck And Killed By Orange Line Train

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Service on the CTA Orange Line was disrupted for about two hours on Tuesday, after a man was struck and killed by a train near the Ashland station.
Police, fire, and CTA officials said the man was hit by a southbound train around 8:40 a.m. A witness said the man jumped on the tracks in front of a moving train.
Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Orange Line service was halted between the 35th/Archer and Halsted stations as a result of the crash. Shuttle buses took passengers between those two stops, while trains continued operating from Midway International Airport to 35th/Archer, and from Halsted to the Loop.
Normal service on the Orange Line resumed around 10:45 a.m., with some residual delays.
