CHICAGO (CBS) — A Chicago man was charged after stabbing another man multiple times during a home invasion in the Lincoln Park neighborhood Thursday night.

Devion Deshaun Allen, 25, was arrested less than an hour after the incident in the 1900 block of N. Seminary Ave. He was charged with felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder, home invasion/causing injury, and aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon.

According to police, a 25-year-old man was inside the home in the 2000 block of North Clifton Avenue around 11:30 p.m. when a man, later identified as Allen, entered the house and stabbed him multiple times.

He ran off, but police later arrested him.

The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition.

A neighbor said the incident was "very disturbing" and "somewhat surprising."

"It's one thing to get robbed. It's one thing to get carjacked. It's another thing to have someone come into your home—like a home invasion? That is beyond terrifying," said Ali Jubelirer. "I don't know what's happening in our city—I mean, things are cyclical, but it doesn't—it feels different, you know what I mean? It feels like this is the new normal."

Allen appeared for a detention hearing on Saturday, at which he was ordered held in jail.
