Man Shot, Wounded On Uptown Street
CHICAGO (CBS) - A man was shot in the buttocks on busy Sheridan Road in the Uptown neighborhood early Monday.
The 34-year-old man was shot at 2:35 a.m. in the 4400 block of North Sheridan Road, police News Affairs officer Ron Gaines said.
The man was standing on the street when unknown gunmen pulled up in a vehicle and fired three shots, shooting him in the left buttock before fleeing southbound, according to a News Affairs release.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition, and has since been treated and released, police said.
On the Uptown Update blog, a neighbor reported hearing four or five "very loud" gunshots, and that the assailants appeared to be shooting at people in a car parked that was in front of a bus stop by Jakes Pup in the Ruf, a fast food restaurant at the northeast corner of Montrose and Sheridan.
Uptown Update reported that two weeks ago Sunday, shots rang out around the same intersection. At 4 p.m. Sept. 26, blog readers reported that five or six shots rang out in the parking lot of the Jewel store at 4335 N. Sheridan Rd., when several people, including children, were present.
That incident did not make wire service reports, and the blog did not mention anyone being hit by the gunfire.
