Man Shot, Wounded Near Medical District
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was wounded in a Monday night shooting on the Near West Side, just blocks from the Illinois Medical District.
The 25-year-old man was shot at 7:08 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Harrison Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
The man was approached by two males on the street who fired shots at him, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh, police said.
He was listed in stable condition early Tuesday, Alfaro said.
Stroger Hospital, which is designated for treating gunshot victims, is only about five blocks away from the crime scene. Rush University Medical Center is only two blocks from the scene.
No one was in custody Tuesday morning, Alfaro said.
