Person found shot to death inside warehouse on Chicago's Northwest Side
CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago Police are investigating a mysterious homicide on the city's Northwest Side. A 55-year-old man was found shot and killed inside a warehouse Saturday night.
Chicago police said the victim was found just before 9:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Kostner Avenue in the Hermosa neighborhood.
The victim, who has since been identified as Ely Martinez, was taken by the Chicago Fire Department to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead.
A woman who lives near the warehouse told CBS 2 that she is concerned about the neighborhood. She said it used to be nice, but now there is utter chaos.
"It was just constant noise at night," she said. "Drag racing in and out in the middle of the night. Cars were coming with really loud music. The windows were rattling, parties at night. Not the first time I've heard gunshots either."
No arrests were made.
Area 5 detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
