Man Shot To Death During Robbery Attempt In Woodlawn
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was shot to death early Saturday during a robbery attempt in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.
The 30-year-old man was in a vehicle with friends in the 6300 block of South Ellis Avenue about 4:30 a.m. when someone approached the vehicle and attempted to rob them, police said. When the man started to drive away the suspect fired several shots, striking the man in the head.
The car came to rest at 63rd Street and Woodlawn Avenue and the man died at the scene, police said.
CTA buses are being rerouted around the area as the investigation continues, according to a CTA alert.
No one is in custody Saturday morning and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
