CHICAGO (CBS) — A man is dead after a fight led to a shooting overnight near popular nightlife spots in the River North neighborhood.

The incident happened around 3:40 a.m. in the 0-100 block of West Hubbard Street.

Chicago police said the victim, a 24-year-old man, was in a fight with another person who pulled out a gun and shot in his direction.

The victim was hit in the body and was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where he died.

People who work near where the shooting took place said the victim was a familiar face in the area. They believe he worked in the service industry and was on the block regularly.

The people said the shooting happened in front of Roc Bar.

Police said area detectives were questioning a person of interest but no arrests had been announced as of Saturday afternoon.

Staff along the street said they were worried for their own safety and hoped to see more police and more security there for the Saturday night crowds.
