CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is dead after he was fatally shot outside of a Loop lounge early Sunday morning

It happened in the 400 block of South Wells Street, and as CBS 2's Marybel Gonzalez reported, this is not the first time there has been a shooting near that bar. CBS 2 tracked at least two others since May, in which nearly 10 people were either injured or killed.

The latest one happened outside the club Sunday morning around 1:36 a.m.

According to the Chicago Police Department, a 38-year-old man was shot and killed outside the Persona Lounge following an altercation.

A 24-year-old man pulled out a gun and fatally shot him in the chest. The victim was transported to Northwestern Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Once on scene, officers placed the suspect in custody and transported him to Rush Hospital for minor injuries.

However, CBS 2 has found this is not an isolated incident.

In July, five men were shot as they were leaving the Persona Lounge when one of them got into a fight with another man. That man shot at the five men, killing two and injuring the other three.

And in May, three people inside a car waiting at a red light on the same block were shot by two men.

The Persona Lounge does appear as permanently closed on Google, so it is not clear what time of event occurred there overnight.

CBS 2 reached out to Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez, who shared the following statement regarding the shooting:

"We are saddened by the loss of life, and disappointed that it keeps happening despite our best efforts to address this and prevent further crimes from happening. In August our office met with the 1st District commander after a shooting that occurred outside of Persona. CPD was actively investigating the incident and had shared that the owners agreed to voluntarily close temporarily, and would re-brand and re-open with a different concept. BACP currently has 3 active business licenses under MLCL Group, LLC.- one of them being a "PPA (Public Place of Amusement" that does not expire until 2024.

I am disappointed that BACP and CPD did not enforce the agreement made with the applicant and we will investigate why this was not the case."
