Man Shot, Killed By Police In Riverdale
RIVERDALE, Ill. (STMW) -- A man who was shot by a south suburban Riverdale police officer died Saturday night.
Michael Moore, 56, of the 14300 block of South Michigan Avenue in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
A Riverdale officer responded Saturday to report of a disturbance between neighbors in the same block that Moore lived and saw an armed individual shooting a gun at another person, according to a release from Riverdale Police.
The person with the gun refused to put the weapon down when ordered by the officer, who then shot the individual, the release said.
According to the medical examiner's office, the shooting happened at Moore's house.
Riverdale Police declined to provide any additional information Sunday morning, including the time of the incident and whether anyone else was injured.
Riverdale Police and the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force are investigating.
