Man shot in Matteson apartment complex
METTESON (STMW)-- A man was shot in the leg, while another man was also injured in a Thursday morning incident at an apartment complex in south suburban Matteson.
Police responded to the Walgreens at 20950 Governors Highway at 10:44 a.m. for a report of a person shot. Once there, officers confirmed a man had been shot, while a second had been injured but not shot.
Police believe the second man may have been hit with an object, but they were not certain.
Further investigation revealed the shooting happened in the rear of the 4100 block of Lindenwood Drive. Witnesses nearby said they saw two men run into an apartment complex, one carrying what they believed was a gun, the release said.
The area was secured by police and a perimeter was set up. Officers made entry about 6:30 p.m. but did not find the shooter.
The gunshot victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and the other injured man was transported to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, he said. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening, he said.
Police had no names or addresses for any of those involved.
The apartment complex is managed by Arc Properties. Property managers were not immediately available for comment.
