Man Riding In Vehicle Fatally Shot In Head
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An Indiana man who was shot in the head while riding in a car early Saturday in the South Chicago neighborhood has died.
Hakeem Walton, 20, of Hammond, Ind., was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Roughly 16 hours earlier on Saturday, police say Walton was in the backseat of a car in the 2700 block of East 84th Street when gunfire rang out and the back window of the vehicle shattered about 2:15 a.m.
When the other passengers turned to Walton, they saw he was shot in the back of the head, they told police.
The driver of the vehicle took Walton to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. He was later transferred to Christ Hospital, where he died.
No one is in custody as Area South detectives continue to investigate.
