Drug Dealer Shot In Greater Grand Crossing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who was allegedly selling drugs in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side late Friday was shot by a prospective buyer, apparently upset that the victim didn't have what he was looking for.
About 11:40 p.m., the 24-year-old victim was in the 6900 block of South Vernon Avenue, apparently selling drugs, police said.
He was approached by a man who asked if he had any cannabis, and when the victim said that he didn't have any, the prospective buyer took out a gun and shot him, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said. The victim was struck in the lower back and left thigh and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition was stable by Saturday morning, Estrada said.
The gunman was not in custody and Area Central detectives were investigating.
