Man Shot Dead On Southwest Side Street

CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was shot to death on the street near his home in the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened about 4:10 p.m. on the 7800 block of South Sawyer Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The 24-year-old victim was walking on the street when he was approached by unknown offenders and shot multiple times, Zala said.
The man, identified as Cordoa Leyva, who lived in the block where he was shot, according to the medical examiner's office, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, when he was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m. Sunday.
