Man Shot Dead In South Austin; 2 Men Shot In Englewood
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The search is on Tuesday morning for a gunman who shot and killed a man in the South Austin neighborhood, then sped off on a bicycle.
Another shooting across town in Englewood left two people wounded about an hour later.
In the South Austin shooting, a 39-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Latrobe Avenue – near Fulton Street – around 9:41 p.m. The gunman rode up on his bicycle and opened fire.
The victim was shot in the chest and head, and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The victim's identity has not been released.
In the Englewood incident, two men, ages 21 and 24, were walking together on the sidewalk in the 500 block of West Marquette Road around 10:45 p.m. They came across a group of eight people, and someone pulled out a gun and shot the men, police said.
The younger man was shot in the groin and taken in stable condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. The older man was shot in the ankle, and was reported in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.
No one was in custody early Tuesday in either of the shootings.
