Store Owners Defends Fatal Shooting Of Suspect In Carpentersville Robbery

CHICAGO (CBS) --A store employee shoots and kills an armed robber, moments after he was held up.

The owner of the northwest suburban store defends his employee's actions.

Oscar Torres shows the red marks on his hands. The owner of Oscarin's Computer in Carpentersville says two robbers used zip ties to secure his hands, along with his employee's, while they committed the crime.

Torres says the robbers put guns to their heads.

Once the two suspects left the store, he says, his employee took out his gun and fired toward them.

Police say one of the armed robbers was shot and died later in the hospital.

"He's a really, really bad guy," Torres says of the robbery suspect.

The other suspect got away with $14,000 in cash and six cell phones.

While police continue to investigate, Torres defends his employee's decision to fire his weapon.

The owner says his employee has a conceal-carry permit, but police couldn't immediately confirm that.

An investigation continues.
