Man Shot Along 'Safe Passage' Route In North Lawndale
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot along a Chicago Public Schools' "Safe Passage" route Sunday night on the West Side.
The North Lawndale neighborhood shooting happened about 11:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Tripp Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man, 28, was walking when he "heard shots and felt pain," Greer said. He was shot in the neck and suffered a graze wound to the back.
He was listed in "guarded" condition early Monday at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The shooting happened along a Safe Passage route the night before the first day of school for Chicago Public Schools students.
No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
