Man Shoots Night Club Guards After Being Thrown Out

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three security guards at a South Side night club were shot early Saturday morning by a man they had tossed out of the club earlier.

The men were working security inside a night club at 7239 S. Racine Av. when they escorted a customer in his 30s outside, police said.

The man threatened to return and when he did, he shot the three men at 4:35 a.m., according to police.

One of the victims was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in "stable" condition while the other two men were taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Police said the gunman, described as a man who is 37 or 38, was wearing red clothing and possibly driving a white van. He got away and was not in custody as of 10 a.m.

Police could not say why he was thrown out of the club. Initial police reports of the incident indicated the men were shot in a drive-by outside of the establishment.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
