Man Sentenced In Naperville Ecstasy Case
WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) - A young motorist who led Naperville police on a 10-mile chase last summer following an aborted narcotics sale has been placed on three years of probation for that crime.
Joshua A. Stockwell, of Joliet, was also sentenced to six days in Will County Jail, time he has already served since being arrested.
Stockwell, 20, was sentenced Wednesday in Will County Circuit Court for the manufacture or delivery of between 10 and 15 Ecstasy pills. That followed his Aug. 25, 2010, meeting with undercover Naperville police attempting a "controlled buy" of the pills.
The deal was never consummated because Stockwell either changed his mind or became spooked during the meeting. He sped away from the area with police in pursuit.
Police eventually curbed his vehicle outside a home improvement store on Plainfield Road in Joliet, about 10 miles to the southeast. In addition to the drug charges, Stockwell was ticketed for reckless driving and driving without insurance.
Following his arrest, a judge allowed Stockwell to remain free on bail, on the condition he not abuse drugs prior to his sentencing. Stockwell ended up being jailed Jan. 7, after authorities determined he had ignored the judge's order and used K2, a synthetic form of marijuana.
