Man Runs To Police Station After Being Shot

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was seriously wounded in a Saturday afternoon shooting near a West Side police station.

The 19-year-old man was shot about 12:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of South Parkside Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

After being shot, the man attempted to run to the Austin District police station at 5701 W. Madison St. but collapsed about 100 feet away, Zala said.

The police station is a about a block from the shooting.

He was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, Zala said.

The gunmen, who were wearing all black, fled on foot and are not in custody Saturday evening, police said.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
