Man Robs Bank In Mount Greenwood Neighborhood
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man made off with an undetermined amount of cash after robbing a bank in the Far Southwest Side Mount Greenwood neighborhood Wednesday morning.
About 11:04 a.m., a man presented a note to a teller at a bank branch in the 11100 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. There is a US Bank branch at 11159 S. Kedzie Ave., according to the bank's website.
The man indicated he had a weapon but no gun was shown, Mirabelli said. The teller complied with the man's request and he left the bank, heading eastbound on 112th on foot.
The robber was described as a black male with a light complexion, police said.
He had his head covered but had scars on his face and hand. He is between 40 and 50 and 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7. He was wearing dark shades, a black hat and black coat, according to the FBI's BanditTracker Chicago.
No weapon was show in the robbery and no injuries were reported.
This was at least the 33rd bank robbery in the Chicago area so far this year, according to FBI statistics. Last year there were 115.
