Man Robbed, Beaten Outside Flat Iron Building In Wicker Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was beaten and robbed in the early morning hours Friday in front of the Flat Iron building in Wicker Park.
Police told CBS 2 the 43-year-old man was attacked around 4:30 a.m. by another man who punched him and knocked him to the ground in front of the Flat Iron Arts Building, at 1565 N. Milwaukee Ave., adjacent to the iconic intersection of Milwaukee, Damen and North avenues.
The victim hit his head on the sidewalk and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County. The robber took the man's backpack and ran off, but returned to check the victim's pockets.
The assailant was an African-American male between 18 and 25 years old, standing between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing between 140 and 170 pounds.
The robber has short black hair and a medium complexion, and was wearing gray pants but had no shirt on.
Nobody was custody as of midday Friday.
