Man Robbed At Gunpoint While Playing With Kids In Schaumburg
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (CBS) -- Schaumburg police were looking for three suspects, after a terrifying robbery in a park earlier this week.
WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports a 36-year-old man was playing with his three children and a neighbor's child Tuesday night at Atcher Park, when he was robbed at gunpoint.
"As they were returning to their vehicle … one suspect approached them, first asked to use a cell phone, then displayed a gun, took the gentleman's car keys, told them all to lay on the ground, and the offender and two other persons with him then fled in the victim's vehicle," Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebel said.
Nebel said it was a frightening experience for the man and the four children, who range in age from 9 to 12.

"It was very scary, not only for him, but I'm sure he was worried about the children as well. Nobody wants to have a gun pulled on them, and it's very shocking for something like that to happen in Schaumburg," he added.
The car later was found abandoned a few miles away in Roselle, with the victim's wallet and cell phone still inside.
Nebel said the victims weren't hurt, but were badly shaken.
"The entire neighborhood is. This is a rarity for Schaumburg, and for that neighborhood, and that park area as well," he said.
Police said all three suspects appeared to be between the ages of 16 and 20. Detectives were checking the car for fingerprints and evidence, hoping for a lead to help find the robbers.
