Man Rescued From Roof In Phoenix Apartment Fire
PHOENIX, Ill. (STMW) -- Four adults — including one man who was rescued from the roof — were in need of shelter Saturday morning after a fire broke out in a two-unit apartment building in south suburban Phoenix.
Firefighters responded to the blaze about 9:40 a.m. at a two-story apartment building in the 15200 block of 3rd Avenue, said Phoenix Village Fire Department Chief Howard Fisher.
The fire started in the kitchen on the second floor and was contained to that unit, Fisher said. The first floor suffered water damage.
One man, thought to be in his 50s, was on the roof of the building when firefighters arrived, Fisher said. The man was among four adults — two men and two women — who were displaced because of the fire, as the apartments were rendered uninhabitable, he said.
No one was injured in the fire, which was extinguished about 10:55 a.m., Fisher said.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze, but arson is not suspected at this time, Fisher said.
